Burning Condors – Love on The Rocks

burning condors

Band: Burning Condors

Hometown: London

Influences/Sounds like: Joy Division, Bowie,

Burning Condors has that sound to them which could be easily mistaken by a passer-by as just plain noise, nothing more, but for someone who actually likes these trashy sounds and screeching vocals, it’s actually quite good. ‘Love on The Rocks’ melody is nothing short of perfect, in fact it could be a pop song if they toned down those guitars (which we don’t want to happen), the bands has been described as what Blur would have been like if they grew up listening to Carl Perkins, which is the best way it could be put.

The fast paced riff, vocals and drums all come together to provide 3 minutes of pure energy, making the song perfect for a scene in a film where the main character has go wild on drugs and women, like Henry Hill in Goodfella’s. This is not a one off for the Burning Condors as all of their songs have this raw edge that deserves a strong crowd on the end of it. Having already got a fair a number of listeners attached to their songs, there’s no doubt that they’re heading in the right direction, hopefully Birmingham will be next on the agenda for the London four-piece.

Sisteray – Happy Ending

artworks-000054100561-5ydqpv-t500x500

The Band: Sisteray

Hometown: The Big LDN

Sounds Like/Influences: Arctic Monkeys, The Beatles, The Who

Reviewed these lads a few times, and have a become a bit of a fan of theirs, and this song has just cemented that slightly more. The jumpy and happy introduction to the song sets the tempo rather nicely as the rest of the song aims to carry this out throughout the song. The laid back vocals of Niall Rowan could easily be badly received because they’re an acquired taste, but I’m one that seems to enjoy the simple talking vocals, perhaps because it makes it easier for me to sing along too.

The song has every component to be an indie song, the riff, the miniature solo and foremost the lyrics that consistently talk about smoking, going out and a girl.  The lads pull it off nicely, making an easy listening tune that kills a couple of minutes, however Sisterays earlier material still proves to be the most strongest as the guitars are blaring and the tracks are much more in your face.

Smoking Buffalo – Dream Man (Demo)

buffalo

Band: Smoking Buffalo

Hometown: London

Sounds Like: The Adicts,

‘Dream Man’

Punk/rock music should be punchy and in your face, similar to one of the gangster out of lock stock, but at the same time it must have pop sensibilities and continuously keep your attention, and make sure you don’t drift off and do something pointless, like sorting out your sock draw. Smoking Buffalo do this with their London attitude since they hail from Essex, but not for long enough.

Their snarling guitars and vocals are grittier than working in a coal mine, but the muffled vocals soon lose your interest as you struggle to hear what’s being sung, which really is a shame as it shapes up to be a decent song. This is a common problem for the majority of the songs they’ve uploaded, however we should not fear. These are only demo’s and are nowhere near the finished article, so we all should be patient, sit down, and entertain ourselves until Smoking Buffalo release the complete version of this song.
