BAYY – Dreams

BAY

Band:BAYY

Hometown: Brighton

Sounds Like: Nothing I’ve ever heard.

Dreams

This song was released a while back, but because of how busy it’s been, only just got round to it, so apologies guys! I’m a huge fan of BAYY, ever since I heard their first track they released on soundcloud ‘Aqaurium’, and since they’ve had me dangling on a thread waiting for the next track to be released. ‘Dreams’ showcases exactly what I’ve come to expect from BAYY, and they do it so well. This succulent, dreamy track just glides around your ears, while your heads in a slight daze from the simple riff with a gearwave twist that we’ve been handed.

The abstracted melodies continue to appear all around the song, and have that important catchy edge along with them. The lyrics just seem to swirl around as he sings ‘It’s Never gonna happen’, and continues to tell you to just give up, these words still linger around my head even though I listened to it nearly a month ago. The track edges me to go out of my way to see them live, because I know this would make the room glisten effortlessly. Another good track from the band from Brighton, and hopefully we will be seeing an EP/Album release soon, fingers crossed.

BAYY – Doctor – Unsigned Band

Bayy - Doctor

Having reviewed these before, they don’t really need an introduction, if you were unfortunate enough to have missed that post, hold your breath because it hasn’t disappeared, here’s the link BAYY – Aquarium.

‘Doctor’

After listening to their previous track, they leave you thirsty for even more, with their mouth-watering sounds that confuse you but at the same time achieving  to make you dancer in a rather unusual way. If you haven’t listened to the track, again don’t fear, here it is

If that one failed to make move in a way that you never knew you could before, than this one will push that boundary that bit further.

‘Doctor’ has this strange yet beautiful sound blessing this track throughout, it’s possibly the most soothing yet eerie sound that you have ever come across. It’s guitar work and melody is something that you would only expect from seasoned veteran that has been doing it for endless years, not from a band that’s just uploaded only their second track on soundcloud, but you hear it, and it goes against every convention you have for a relatively new band.  With lyrics that sound like they’ve been picked from a trippy dream, the song keeps you listening intently to hear what else he sings. The vocals may sound like a cry in woods with no one there to hear, but that makes you pay more attention, and keeps you revisiting the song to hear those lyrics which are distributed by some soft vocals.

One things BAYY proved in their first song was that they were capable of putting together a song that made you step back and appreciate, this only strengthens this argument, excellent work from and excellent band.

BAYY – Aquarium – Unsigned Band

BAYY

Introduction

This band got in touch with me a couple of days ago, so the post should’ve been up a couple of days ago but I was in Liverpool, so that’s the reason for that delay. This is a four-piece that hail Brighton and have only been together for a couple of months, which is quite good for what they’ve come out with. They have a variety of different influences running through the band with all of them leaning towards different bands, Tame Impala, Black lips, Balkans and Warpaint just to name a few of the bands.  The band are already working on some new tracks and tell me it won’t be long until they’re out which I’m already looking forward to.

‘Aquarium’

Have a quick listen to the track before I bang on about it…

I’m a bit of a novice within this genre I’d say because I don’t have a rich knowledge of bands and artists when it comes to shoegaze and slightly psychedelic music, but I quite like it so I’ll give it a go. They call this music ‘Gearwave’, which is something that I’ve never heard of before, but after listening to this I will definitely digging deep within this genre. For me it’s a sound I’ve never really heard before, and I find it really interesting and actually quite catchy. It’s a song you need to listen to loud or with both earphones in, else you won’t be getting the full effect of it. The lyrics are extremely psychedelic, especially at the part where he sings ‘We’ll always love you, you’re always in our hearts’, it’s hard not to sing along after listening to it a few times.  Finally just a quick word on the vocals which I think really stands out in the song, and plays an integral part to the song. Overall  I think it’s a brilliantly produced piece of music, and how well they’ve worked to achieve the sound they now have, very excited to hear what these guys come out with next and hopefully I will be slightly more knowledgeable about the genre by then.
