Just a quick heads up for the new single that will be released today by Abbe May and her song ‘T.R.O.U.B.L.E’, if you like your Electronic pop music I’m sure this will be up your street, even more so if you like songs with a darker edge to them. This single is something to watch out for, because it’s an artist that is slowly growing after the B-side to this sing ‘Karmageddon’ has already become a cult hit around Australia.

Arctic Monkeys to play Olympics? Lets hope so.

Heard some rather very interesting new yesterday about the Olympics which made me immediately want to watch the opening ceremony, because I wasn’t to bothered before. This is the news that the Arctic Monkeys will be playing at the opening ceremony and that’s what should be happening, we’re a great country for music, we have some of the best bands in the world, better than any other country so we should just showcase all of these acts.

When everyone was talking about what should be done at the opening ceremony, I just thought lets have a massive concert with a few beers? 3 hours? we can cover that easily with these bands if they all have half hour on stage, then get on with the games. Here’s what should of been planned

EXPLOSION! FIREWORKS! THE STAGE APPEARING FROM THE GROUND…

PULP WALK ON STAGE, PERFORM FOR  30 MINUTES…

EXPLOSION!

NOELsGALLAGHER DOES 30 MINUTES…

EXPLOSION!

BLUR DOES 30 MINUTES…

EXPLOSION!

THE STONE ROSES DO 30 MINUTES

EXPLOSION!

KASABIAN DOES 30 MINUTES.

EXPLOSION

ARCTIC MONKEYS DO 30 MINUTES.

MASSIVE EXPLOSION!

SORTED.

Things will get Rotten on Question Time

Not the biggest of news, but definitely one of the most funniest and exciting pieces of news. John Lydon is going to appear on question time, brilliant. This could be on of the best pieces of controversial television, and if you don’t know why just have a browse at the clip below to see what they’re letting out on question time.

I found this video hilarious. Hopefully he will be this volatile on the show, and express his views because underneath all the swearing and that he actually has some good views, views that make you think and say ‘yeah, you could put it that way John, do it with one less fuck in the sentence?’.

So lets just hope this is true, it happens and they let him have his own time to say what he wants :).

Here are the Sex Pistols.

Blur’s new tunes

Sorry for the absence of my blog yesterday everyone (nobody), I had one all lined up (I didn’t) and I was really annoyed I wasn’t able to get on here and blog my little heart out (I really didn’t give a shit).

Okay, Blur have got two new songs and I had a listen and this is what I think of them. I think they’re alright.  Well, I think one of em’ is, I think I will have to grow to like the other one, like a boy would have to grow to accept his step-dad.

I really like, under the westway, at the moment I’m in to quite mellow music with melody and quite quiet and easy listening and that’s what this songs is. It’s pleasant to listen to, and I think the piano in it which Damon is playing of course is really (I know it sounds simple) nice. I think it show’s how far blur have come, because they are quite the accomplished musicians now with some great records under their belt. I think they’re probably one of the best British bands.

Next we have ‘The puritan’, the lyrics I think are great, they make me think which is one of the things lyrics should do. I’m not keen on the noise that’s going on behind the lyrics though, I don’t think it sounds very good, but I do feel that this will grow on me because I’ve only listened to it twice and both times I’ve listened to it with the sound down, and I think it needs to be blasting out.

But two okay songs by Blur, which are both very different. Have a listen.

OH! I WILL BE REVIEWING AN ALBUM SOON, JUST COULDN’T BE BOTHERED THE LAST FEW DAYS. BUT AT LEAST I KEPT POSTING.

The Chief’s new tracks!

Before I start, just wanna say that this one of the coolest photos I’ve seen.

Right, Noel Gallagher, two new tunes, what we reckon?

Have a listen first…

You know what you’re going to get with Noel Gallagher songs, catchy chorus’ (I’m already singing one of em’), simple chord changes, nice slow pace, and these two songs don’t step out of that boundary. I don’t think it matters though because they’re good like that, they’re simply brilliant as I once heard them called. I think now Noel’s a bit older, he’s doing more love songs, obviously they’re not soppy and full of cliche’s but you know they’re about love and being with someone, and he’s doing it the right way by not entertaining the idea of ‘soppyness’.

I think they’re two beautiful songs, sung by a beautiful man, with beautiful hair and cool glasses. Chop them down by saying they’re simple, easy, boring, but I really like em’.

Keep going chief.

Not long for The Stone Roses big return

So with The Stone Roses just around the corner, I think it would be wrong not to talk about them. I got into this music quite late, i’m 19 now and I got into the music when I was about 16 so it wasn’t so long ago when I was into grime.

The Stone Roses were on of the first bands I listened to when I started getting into guitar music because I was into Oasis and my friend said that The Stone Roses played a big part influencing Oasis, so I went home and treated myself. I never listened to them before, because my mate said they influenced Oasis, I was expecting something exactly like Oasis, and fuck me was I wrong. The Stone Roses were so different, the guitar, Ian Brown’s singing, and the drums were out of this world. Since I listened to them, they have been one of my favorite bands and they always will be.

I wasn’t alive when The Roses came out so I can’t talk about how they changed music, or how it was different to anything I’ve ever listened to. I can say they still sound fresh, they still sound exciting and they still sound new. I don’t think there will be a band like this for a long time.

I still think The Roses will put on a great performance at Heaton Park after all the reviews I’ve read it seems like they won’t let anyone down. Also I think they still have a lot to offer to music and our ears, hopefully they will continue after this reunion and go on to make another album because I don’t think the ‘Second Coming’ was a good send off for one of the greatest bands ever.

To all you lucky fuckers that are going to the gig at Heaton I know you will have a good time, get smashed and do that dance that you can only do when you’re listening to The Stone Roses.

Treat yourself, have a listen.

Ringo puts Nail in the Coffin for Mini Fab Four Idea

So Ringo has come out and said the four sons of The Beatles won’t be uniting to create a mini fab four, is this a good thing?

Yeah it is, I think it sounds like a good idea, but definitely would not work out well I don’t think. It’s like having a starter, a main course then knowing you’re full and you shouldn’t have the dessert because you’ll throw up, it’s a bit like that.

I think it would be a good gimic because I suppose you could get them to cover The Beatles stuff, and become a very good Beaatles cover band, but I don’t think they could do their own stuff. Partly because they would always be compared to their fathers, and because they will never get out of their father shadows like Julian and Dhani.

Thoughts?

Oh and does anyone think Ringo should stop wearing the earring?

Viva Brother to Lovelife

If you don’t already know, which I assume not because it’s hardly the news of the century or remotely interesting but, the band Viva Brother split up and are now re-inventing themselves as a synth pop group. Like I say it’s barely news of the century, but I found this fucking hilarious because it’s sort of saying “we’ve tried that, it didn’t work, we tried to be a bit to big for our boots, so lets do this, we probably won’t get as much stick. Hopefully nobody will remember us “.

Well I will always remember Viva Brother, obviously not for good reasons, just simply for bad music, terrible lyrics, really ripping off other bands, and as cocky lads who couldn’t deliver the goods. I think it’s okay to gloat and be cocky, as long as you’ve got something cocky to be about. It was like they got their cock out in front of the world, and said “this is a monster”, and it only has the same length as a maggot, so they should have listened to themselves before shouting about their music.

I remember going to see them live, they were terrible, they were getting heckled and they couldn’t hack it. So, wish em’ all the best. I won’t be listening to their new music intently, I’ve listened to a bit and it’s awful, didn’t think they could get worse. Make your own opinion though…

Holograms take over – 24-04-12 – AW

Haven’t got time for a review on a an album, been up since 7 , been working like mad, but I thought I’d just do a quick blog. Got some music to look at though the Dirty Little Lies have got some new music which I have got to have a look at so, should be good.

Just thought I’d say a quick word on this whole hologram thing when I first saw it and watched the video with the hologram of
Tupac I was pretty impressed, and I thought it was quite good. Then the news came out that Snoop Dogg might tour with it (I don’t know, i’m not completely sure), I was excited for the prospect of that happening. I was reading some blogs on the news and I commented on one of them saying I wonder if that would spur on a whole thing of getting other dead idols and bringing them back and having them tour.

I think why not, would it be a bad thing, if people wanna see it and will pay for it why not? I was talking to some of my friends, and asking if they would pay too see like a hologram of Kurt Cobain Playing? or the sex pistols with Sid viscous?  The old Beatles line up? I’d pay for it, I mean I wouldn’t pay a high price but £20 I think I would. Just wondered what everybody else thinks on this?

Happy Birthday Pedro! – 12-03-2012 – AW

Pete, doing his thing.

Happy Birthday Pedro, he’s 33 today, and I hope he had a bloody good day, which I’m sure he has with all his alcohol and friends. I know it’s late but I’ve been double busy today, double busy, had a guitar session, discussing my future (still haven’t  figured out what the fuck I’m doing), played some fifa and had a couple of cans on the decking warming myself up for the summer.

So Pete Doherty, some people adore him and defend him in every way they can (me), and some people hate the ground that he walks over (majority of the people in the whole of WORLD). Either way, surely everyone has a song of his or piece of work of his that they enjoy, whether it be when he was with The Libertines, Babyshambles, Solo or one of his pieces of his art work. For all those people they say that dislike everything his ever done, well I will say this, you must of started nodding your head, jumping up and down to the beginning of Don’t Look Back In To The Sun.

A piece of Pete's artwork, which also used for his solo album "Grace/Wastelands"

Pete’s done many things in the past, some things just a stroke of genius and some perhaps the most stupidest thing he could of done at that time, either regardless to what he’s done, he’s devoted himself to his fans by bringing out music that changed people, that influenced people and that gave people their first love. Also some of the stuff he did in the early libertine days by holding gigs to devoted fans, to his youtube channel and posting songs up there and going out onto the street to play, he’s gave a lot. Unfortunately I believe he’s gave too much as he’s practically given his life to his fans, and he’s had to give up a lot to do that. However some of the stuff he may just of done anyway, but still he’s given it up like not seeing his Astile as much as he should.

Pete and his Son

Personally I think he created his best music when he was with Carl, whether it was because of the chemistry that had together, Carl’s ability to create great sounding riffs and Pete’s talent of writing such poetic and interesting lyrics. I also think the fans just loved how Pete ‘n’ Carl were together, sometimes I just wondered why they weren’t married to each other, because they should be because they love each other. Although I love the stuff he did with Babyshambles, both of the albums they did were good, it was just missing something, Carl’s input.

What became of the likely lads....

Just gonna close this post by choosing my favourite song, it’s not an easy one to do because I enjoy everything he’s ever done even some of his weaker stuff. With brilliant songs like, ‘Time for hero’s’, ‘Music when the lights go out’ , ‘Can’t stand me now’, ‘what Katie did’, ‘Lost art of murder’, ‘beg steal or borrow’, ‘I love you but you’re green’ the list could go on for quite a while. But I think it’s got to go to ‘Music When The Lights Go out’, purely because of the lyrics, I think it’s a perfect love song, I think the lyrics just make the song. It’s beautifully simple, simple riff, simple to sing but I think the lyrics just mean so much to so many people. It’s been on more than one occasion when I hear the song, the hairs stand up on my back ( sorry for the cliché). Anyway, happy birthday Pedro…..
