As my quest goes on to find more bands to take on our 10 questions,I caught up with three-piece band Hey Bulldog! To see if they could answer the full 1o!
First things first how did you come to be?
The band started out just me completely on my own recording an ep using a drum machine, that got a pretty good response so then I started looking for band members to turn it into a proper band.
What genre of music would you say you play?Psychedelic blues rock would cover most of the stuff we do
Which bands/artists do you take influences from?
Bands like The kills, radiohead led Zeppelin, nirvana, neil Young, jimi Hendrix, PJ Harvey, thee oh sees
Best venue you’ve ever played and why?
We always love playing at the night and day in Manchester as the sound is always amazing on and off stage and a lot of great bands have played there too. We also played a gig at St Clements church in Manchester which was a really special experience and an amazing venue to play.
Best gig you’ve ever attended?
It would probably have to be radiohead, supported by beck n deerhoof in Edinburgh athletics stadium… Great music, weather n company…great gig.
A band you would most like to support and why?
The Rolling stones would be epic playing in front of all those people, plus I think the crowd would enjoy us or somebody on a smaller gig level like ty segall or Thee Oh Sees.
A band that you would like to work with?
Somebody like pj harvey would be amazing to bounce ideas and add a female element, somebody like josh homme as a producer would be amazing too.
Top five albums you’ve ever heard?
Radiohead in rainbows , Jimi Hendrix electric ladyland, Neil young Harvest, The Beatles abbey road, Pink Floyd Piper at the gates of dawn.
Biggest accomplishment as a band/solo artist?
We’ve had some great radioplay, live interviews on 6 music with Steve Lamacq and exclusive plays from john Kennedy on Xfm, playing gigs with international touring bands and people who influenced us growing up like Joel gion (brian Jonestown Massacre) has been awesome too.
What’s next in the pipeline?
We’ve been working on new material for most of the year so there will definitely be a new single or ep out soon!
Thanks guys really appreciate you taking the time out to answer the questions, looking forward to hear your new material!!
